hm I really should apply for a position in the Department of Bad Puns and Wits - if such organisation exists haha.
nevertheless, over the holiday, I have spent some time (probably too much time, in fact) organising and redecorating my room, a task that involved bringing my bed down to the floor, 100 paper cranes and blu tack abuse.
the result is, (dare I say) delightful and superb. I am very satisfied.

me gusta like a sir. HAHA.
okay, I shouldn’t be so conceited about it haha. cos the ‘newly decorated room’ is probably not as “delightful and superb” as I described it earlier, let’s just say it’s…uhm,

right, without further ado, here it is, the photo exhibition of “my lovely attic: the little loft where the blogger sleeps.”

here’s the entrance to the attic/my bedroom. as you may or may not know, our house is a 3-story building (including the attic), in which the attic consists of my room only. I was gonna take a picture of the stairway to heaven the attic, but I figure since y’all know how a standard stairway look like, taking a picture of it would be an insult to your intelligence haha. considerate nindy is considerate.
anyway, I just took a picture of the door so that you can see the diplodocus card and probably a glimpse of the neck strap with lots of pins and badges. also, you can see the four Bali flags on the spindles, last but not least it’s the little origami cranes hanging on the ceiling. all for decorative purpose really.

it’s the backside of the door. yes, I stuck my least worn Batik cloth - pinned with Balinese butterflies - on my door. this is simply to accentuate the door really, making it look less boring haha.
oh you can also see a little bit of my bed on the floor. owkey, moving on.

so, THIS is where I sleep and work everyday (in fact, I am currently typing this post, sitting on my bed). you should know that this bed was on the other side of the room, but I decided to move it here, because I love the roof window. I like the idea of waking up to the view of the sky in the morning - really pretty when it’s clear and all. This only means 1 thing: bringing the bed down to the floor. And that is exactly what I did, disassemble the bed frames (thanks Matt for the screwdrivers!) - not that it’s a nice and sturdy frame anyway.
oh and more paper cranes!

so this is the ‘wonderwall’ and mini library opposite the bed. regarding the ‘wonderwall’, don’t ask me which print is my favourite, because all of them are special to me haha (I’m one of those weird people who get sentimental over printed papers - especially postcards!).
btw, just an idea for you who struggle with keeping your shoes/boxes organised, you can do what I did: stack it and put your books/whatever on top. this really makes it waaay more interesting, especially when you, like me, don’t own a book shelf.
to create an “artistic stack of boxes” instead of “boring pile of cardboards”, you don’t have to buy colourful/expensive pretty boxes. contrary to the statement “Buy More Shit or We’re All Fucked”, I’d say: save money and be creative. if you want you can wrap your boxes with gift papers, or in my case, I wrapped those with newspapers. you will be surprised on how these little things can actually change the whole look of your book and box collection.
I also love how the origami and Kenny the guitar fit into this ensemble :)

moving on, it’s the door to my ensuite toilet. Stuck to the door, you can see three bird-shaped hooks. well let me tell you this, originally, they’re not hooks, but clothes pegs - I owe this ‘creation’ to the power of blu tack.

the big window overlooking the ‘forest’, the bird and the branches wall sticker (probably the only ornament I purposely bought for the sake of room decoration, everything else is either DIY or owned already).
oh and the camera parade on the window sill. plus darth vader buckle (the small one - i never got the chance to buy the belt for it) and radio/speaker (the big one). the green capsule clock is the second oldest thing in this room (the oldest being the 35 year-old analogue Canon camera from my uncle - not visible here), I bought it when I was 13 and since then, I’ve brought it everywhere.

my dresser.
I still find it funny how I don’t own a mirror and simply rely on my webcam when it comes to dressing up and putting on make up. hm.
the buddha/monk in the centre, next to the volkswagen tin used to be an umbrella - my favourite one. but thanks to the torturous london winds, now it serves as a statue.

I do have a desk. and to answer your curiousity, yes, they are pictures of Ario Bayu and Nicholas Saputra on my wall. HAHAHA. (if any of you can send me an A4 picture of Rio Dewanto, Edward Gunawan, or even better…TIMOTHY MARBUN, I’d be more than grateful, so please please do! - I’m serious, PLEASE!)
let’s take a closer look on my desk.

I still have the photo cork board my best friends gave me on the day I left for Toronto two years ago. I think this is another object besides the clock that I will always bring wherever I go. hanging by the lamp is the fake rosary given as a ‘good luck charm’ on my 17th birthday by one of my best friends, on the lamp base there is a Hanuman statuette - according to the Hinduism mythology, Hanuman protects you from evil spirits. hm, that means it protects me from myself. HAHAHA.
on top of the lamp, to the left side, there’s a Japanese charm with Buddha picture on it. my cousin bought me that for health and mindfulness. hm, perhaps it’s save to say the lamp is my “universal enlightenment corner” then.
okay what else,…the 3 stationery pots. another recycled-then-reuse items. oh and my 20th birthday card from flatmates, never fails to cheer me up just by looking at the happy faces of the sunflowers haha.

last but not least, it’s the backside of my toilet door. another DIY project using old flyers and postcards. so here are my favourite quotations, the words that has pretty much changed my life over the years. and where is the better place to put these, if not in the toilet, the ultimate philosophy school, eh? HAHA.
so, I hope you enjoy your ‘visit’ and I’d like to thank the amazing creator of Vintage Camera for the awesome app. a mediocre photographer over here is happy.
